In April 1975, a Buffalo city court judge dropped the inadequate building permits charges against Nairy’s Social Club and its sergeant-at-arms, Joseph A. Moses, but new charges were drawn up.456

After revelations came to light that Salvatore Pieri was involved with the clubs, Pieri, who was out on parole for a 1970 jury tampering charge, was sent back to prison to complete his sentence. He was released on June 11, 1976.457

The police continued raids on suspected gambling and bookmaking operations through the 1970s. In March 1977, FBI agents busted Connecticut Hall and Nairy’s Social Club, after another undercover agent infiltrated the clubs.458 Those arrested included some of the usual suspects: Salvatore Pieri, William Sciolino, Rinaldo and Joe Fino. All were charged with “conspiracy and operating a gambling business.” Cassaro, Gaetano “Tommy Chooch” Miceli and Moses were also sought.459
